About The Craftsman

Meet Dave

Dave has always been handy with tools, but the journey to Dave’s Wood Lab began years ago after a visit to a craft show in the mountains of Tennessee. His wife, Sheri, fell in love with many of the handmade pieces they saw—but as a teacher and a deputy, their budget was tight. So Dave decided to try making one of the items himself.

The first piece he built was a heart-shaped shadow box shelf for Sheri. She loved it, and before long, she was sketching new ideas and describing items for Dave to bring to life. As he built more, friends took notice and started asking for pieces of their own. Eventually, word spread, and requests grew into larger projects—tables, cabinets, custom furniture—all while Dave was still working full-time as a Sheriff’s Deputy.

Now retired, Dave spends most of his time in the workshop crafting custom orders and hand-built wooden goods. When he’s not in the shop or at a local festival, you’ll find him with Sheri and their dog, Aurora, or spending time with his two kids and their families.

You can find Dave at local art shows, craft festivals, and other pop-up events. To stay up to date on new pieces and where he’ll be next, follow along on the Dave’s Wood Lab Facebook and Instagram Pages, or check his events calendar.
